On Tuesday the 20th of December 2011, RINA Hellas and QMS Maritime Training Center, member of K. C. Lyrintzis Group of Companies, have signed an agreement of cooperation on matters of training related to Passenger Ships and Yachts.

During the ceremony held at QMS premises in the heart of Piraeus, Mrs. Kalliope C. Lyrintzis, Managing Director of the Group, emphasized the need to provide today high quality training to seafarers and shore personnel in these specific sectors in order for them to be well prepared in a very competitive market.

Mrs. Lyrintzis thanked RINA, one of the oldest classification societies, and all involved persons from QMS for succeeding in making such an agreement come true.

On behalf of RINA Hellas, the agreement was signed by Mr. Spyridon Zolotas, Country Manager for RINA in Greece and Cyprus.

Mr. Zolotas pointed out that, “RINA class is celebrating 150 years of history in 2011, and therefore a strategic partnership for training services in fields of excellence for us, like passenger ships and yachts, was not an easy decision. The cooperation with QMS was the right choice.”

The spectrum of courses include technical and operational matters with emphasis to hotel staff courses and include topics such as HACCP, Basic and Advanced Level Hotel Management skills (Bar/Beverage, Galley Prep, Housekeeping), Fuel and Lubricants Management and others.

The important day for both companies, was attended by the RINA General Manager for Africa, Greece and Middle East, Mr. Stefano Bertilone, Mr. Andreas Papalimneos, Head of the Piraeus Training Center of RINA Hellas, Mrs. Katherine Lyrintzis, Executive Director of KCL Group, VADM Stavros Kechris, Deputy MD, Dr. Nikos Frydas, Director of Studies and other delegated personnel of QMS.
