icated industry reference specifically addressing STS operations. This comprehensive guide is designed to support safe, efficient, and well-managed STS operations for bulk carriers. It reflects the collective knowledge and the operational experience of many professionals who contributed to its development. Their contribution demonstrates how the industry can work together to improve safety standards and operational practices.INTERCARGO represents owners operating more than 4,500 bulk carriers worldwide. One of our core priorities is to promote safe and responsible operations across the global dry bulk fleet. Initiatives such as this guide form part of our broader commitment. Safety has always been at the heart of our industry. Over the years, significant progress has been made through improved ship design, operational procedures, and better training. However, safety is never static; it requires continuous learning, adaptation, and a willingness to share knowledge openly. This guide is intended to support exactly that objective. It is a practical tool that operators, masters, crews, and technical managers can use to better understand the challenges associated with STS operations and to apply best practices in their day-to-day work%u201d.Subsequently, the Chairman of INTERCARGO%u2019s Technical Committee, Mr Dimitris Monioudis, delivered a detailed presentation, pointing out that %u201cshifts in cargo flows, particularly towards regions such as Africa, where port infrastructure is still under development, make a clear guidance framework imperative. The events of recent years clearly demonstrate this necessity%u201d.Capt. Georgios Kyrkorianos, Commercial Representative and Regional ESG & Quality Assurance Manager at NYK Group, stressed that %u201csafety in STS operations starts with the information shared between the involved parties. Shippers play a key role in this process, as the quality and timing of the information determine the quality and timing of the operation. When information is late or incomplete, risks increase and delays follow. Looking ahead, with the Simandou iron ore project coming on stream, we can expect more STS activity in West Africa. This makes early and complete information from shippers even more critical for planning safe operations%u201d. On behalf of DYNAMARINe, CEODr Alexandros Glykas described the event as %u201ca particularly significant milestone for STS operations worldwide and for INTERCARGO%u201d, noting that the new publication is the result of a coordinated effort by the shipping community.
