                                    Sponsored by%u201cGreek Line%u2019s New Liner%u201d: The ocean liner %u201cEmpress of Britain%u201d, as presented in the 15 June 1964 issue of Naftika Chronika. Built in 1956, the vessel was bought by Greek Line in 1964 and renamed %u201cQueen Anna Maria%u201d. After a series of renovations, the ocean liner served the Piraeus-New York line for several years before being put into service as a cruise ship.Snapshot taken during the launching of the converted dry bulk vessel %u201cWorld Marine%u201d, which took place at the Hellenic Shipyards of Skaramangas on 31 August 1962. Owned by Stavros Niarchos, the vessel had previously been a T-2 tanker before being converted into a dry cargo vessel through the process of jumboization. This method usually involved the conversion of ageing or obsolete tankers by completely replacing their midsection with a newly constructed one, suitable for the transport of dry bulk cargo.May 2026 333
