Laskaridis Shipping Co. Ltd. is pleased to announce that its Ice- Classed reefer vessel M/V Skyfrost (470,604cbft, Vessel Class Bureau Veritas) has exited the Northern Sea Route Passage (NSR) on the 9th of September 2012 en route to St. Petersburg with a cargo of frozen fish loaded in Petropavlovsk, Kamchatka.

The NSR transit was successfully completed by the Skyfrost in 7 days 12 hours and thirty minutes (2,189 NM) and the vessel was escorted by the nuclear icebreaker Yamal due to the presence of ice in the eastern regions of the NSR bringing the total voyage time at approximately 21 days. (6,630 NM).

The alternative route through the Panama Canal is approximately 12,300 NM or 40 days.
