Celebration of the Hellenic New Year at 71 Fenchurch Street

Captain Theo Lembessis of ELKA Shipping was the lucky winner of this year’s sovereign at Lloyd’s Register’s traditional New Year’s celebration and cutting of the Vassilopitta event which took place on Thursday 12 January at 71 Fenchurch Street.

This is one of the major City celebrations dedicated to London’s Hellenic Shipping Community. It was the second year under the Chairmanship of Thomas Thune Andersen, who together with the CEO Richard Sadler, the Marine Director Tom Boardley, the EMEA Marine Manager Apostolos Poulovassilis and the London Hellenic Shipping Community Client Manager Kostas Papadakis hosted a successful event. Supported by the children’s chorus of the Hellenic College, with drinks and mostly Greek cuisine dishes, the event went on until late afternoon.

The Chairman of Lloyd’s Register wished Greece and Shipping a better year amidst all the challenges they are facing within the Global Economic uncertainty and emphasised Lloyd’s Register dedication to support them, being there from a position of strength across most geographies and in a diversified portfolio of businesses.
